Today’s 10th session of ARABICA COFFEE BLOOMS by Positive Thoughts was for the dose of inspiration and positivity from Mr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat

Bilal Ahmad Bhat is a prominent entrepreneur, luminary, story teller, product developer and a husband/father.

The Interview was moderated by our very own Mr. Bitupan Baruah. He is a well known and respected wellness coach, motivational speaker, India Book of Records holder and also, the Honorary member of Positive Thoughts.
The journey of success is never smooth, and if you give up along the way, you’ll never realize the fruits. Now with five successful businesses in two different countries, Bilal Ahmad Bhat knows only too well what it is like to grow a company from scratch.

Born on 27th February 1978 in North India, (Wuyan, Pampore, Pulwama, Kashmir), Bilal’s parents were from humble backgrounds. His father was a farmer and the mother never went to school. Bilal’s marriage was arranged when he was two days old, but only he came to know about it at the age of seven.

He wasn’t over the moon about the idea but as he recalls today, it is one of the best things that has ever happened to him. He was just joining the university to undertake Bachelor of Commerce when his parents organized his wedding. The move meant him dropping his education to fend for his new bride. However, dropping out of the university did not shun his dreams. It indeed paved way for his entrepreneurial journey which had began at an early age of eight.

Bilal’s Entrepreneurial Journey

Bilal was born in a family of farmers without experience in business. He is in the 7th generation, and the family only has two government employees. The world renowned business person wouldn’t have made it this far without taking risks and building meaningful relationships. Now with 25 year work experience, Bilal has worked hard, made immense sacrifices, lost investments and created empires.

As a young boy, his father wouldn’t just let him have money just because he asked. He had to wait until the money was available. Thanks to his experience, growing up, Bilal had to create his own sources of income. At the age of eight, he saved up and bought a camera for hire and with which he took photographs of events, family and friends at a cost. At the time he was getting married in 1999, Bilal worked at a travel agency with the salary of INR650/month. Even though his boss was generous enough to give him a double raise, the money could hardly cover the expenses of a family.

The emergence of the internet presented a golden opportunity for the entrepreneur. He could compose emails for clients as well as marketing for computer colleges. Volunteering at his cousin’s pharmacy for seven years also presented a great learning opportunity in business.

Bilal owned Kong Posh Industries. Bilal attributes his prosperity to his passion for selling. He first stepped in Malaysia in 2001, studied Graphic design, Hotel Management, Travel & Tourism. He has since established businesses in Malaysia and home in Kashmir under the following brand names: Sahelwa, Saffron Cottage, Decon Designs, Neocs, B2sstores

Under the umbrella of Kong Posh industries Sdn Bhd, Bilal has diversified into different products. He began by trading in Kashmiri Saffron. Currently, they are the manufacturers of the finest saffron and customized saffron products under the brand name “Saffron Cottage”. Saffron cottage has been natured over the past two decades to stand out as a significant exporter of Saffron and it’s products to different parts of the world. “Sahelwa”, a saffron product, is a customized natural energy drink and anti-aging product which combines saffron and Cell Gen activated hydrogen water.

Bilal later invested in lifestyle designs and furniture under the brand name “Decon Designs”. Second designs is now a worldwide brand, best known for quality customized furniture and lifestyle products for homes, hotels offices, gardens and beaches among others. Over the years, the development of internet and technology has presented endless opportunities for investors. B2sstores is Bilal’s owned venture which provides businesses with online marketing and networking services. The company branded “InfoTech” provides unlimited online presence to businesses, web designs, development and marketing, software and mobile application development, SEO solutions and social Media marketing services.

Neocs “Now EveryOne Can Study” is an upcoming eLearning platform. It works in collaboration with universities, institutions and corporations, drawing upon their collective expertise, prestige and provide quality higher education and lifelong learning.

What does it take to be an entrepreneur?

The entrepreneurial journey wasn’t easy and he wishes he had someone to mentor him through. Starting out, he admits to have made mistakes which were part of his learning process. Owing to his experience, Bilal has dedicated a lot of time mentoring young entrepreneurs making their road to success less bumpy. College education hardly prepares one for the challenges in the real business world.

For this reason, he has over the years established a complete workshop “90 Day MBE” (Master of Business Entrepreneurship) which helps aspiring and struggling business persons overcome challenges in the world of business.

He is now launching a book, “28 Credentials of Entrepreneur”, alongside an E-platform “28 COE”. His objective is to help aspiring business persons connect with world renowned entrepreneurs, leverage business, brand and network. Bilal believes that SME’S value in the world economy is not issued with the credit it deserves. With the “28 credentials of entrepreneur”, experienced entrepreneurs get to share their success stories with the rest of the world.

Through the years, Bilal has constantly improved. He has cultivated his attitude, developed excellent communication skills and global networking. He is adoptive to change, reads widely, enjoys writing, appreciates positive criticism, and a philanthropist who wants to see the world in one peace and harmony. Bilal believes that free education and health care are human rights, and makes this part of his life agenda. Other beliefs he holds include sharing with those in need and equality.
