The Guest Speaker is Dr. Anirban Bose, Deputy Manager- Product & Application, Micro Imaging Division, DSS Imagetech Pvt. Ltd. He takes care of high-end biological research microscopy projects (especially confocal) as a product and application specialist; product promotion through organizing seminars and delivering technical presentations to postgraduate students and researchers, putting up presale activity through product presentation, demonstration, and technical discussion with prospective customers; providing application support and training to the users at different laboratories and central facilities.
Scientific imaging represents an essential and accepted research tool for analyzing and understanding complex natural systems. Apart from traditional microscopic techniques such as light and electron microscopy, new advanced methods have been established, including laser scanning microscopy (LSM), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM). These new techniques allow in situ analysis of microbial communities’ structure, composition, processes, and dynamics. The three methods open up quantitative analytical imaging possibilities that were impossible until a few years ago. The microscopic techniques represent potent tools for examining mixed environmental microbial communities usually encountered in the form of aggregates and films.
