EV Conversion Kit major GoGoA1 expands footprint, adds 50+ franchises across India

This new ecosystem will definitely disrupt the existing vehicle market, but the country will gain a lot in terms of technology, greener mobility options and job creation opportunities due to the skilling in the sector in coming years".

Delhi/Mumbai, 17th Jan 2022: EVs are set to drive the automotive market in the future and so is the retrofitting of conventional vehicles with EV conversion kits fast catching up. Mumbai based, EV conversion one-stop shop GoGoA1, which launched India’s First RTO-Approved Electric Conversion Kit for Motorcycles has seen an increased demand of 60% for the conversion kits since the announcement. GoGoA1, is all set to be a disruptor in the EV space, after having registered several IPR’s under its portfolio. The company specializes in providing world-class OEM/ODM and Electric & Solar Powered Vehicles and its components. The company mainly concentrates on the transformation of existing fuel 2 wheelers, 3-wheelers, and cars into electric-powered technologies by creating hybrid and complete conversion kits.

Mr. Shrikant Shinde, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, GoGoA1 shared, “There is a 60% surge of demand for EV conversion or retrofitment not only because it supplements our country’s new EV revolution, but also because it helps in adding a new lease of life and performance to existing vehicles.

50+ franchises and counting PAN India

The company has an enriching, decade-old experience in spheres of education, skill-building and creating awareness on e-mobility. “We have a strong footprint of franchise networks with over 50+ franchises registered pan India in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Delhi and across India”. For all the franchise owners GoGoA1 provides options including partnering for installation of the conversion kit, battery swapping and leasing the vehicle”.

Empanelling with Delhi Government for retrofitting old vehicles

GoGoA1 has also been empanelled by the Delhi Government under compliance with National Green Tribunal. “We are the only company from Maharashtra, to be a part of their unprecedented move to convert 10 year old Hero Honda Splendor motorcylces into electric vehicles, which will benefit the existing motorcycle owners to continue its usage.”

Why the urgency for Skilling?

Towards fostering the EV ecosystem and addressing the need to develop a ready talent pool that can cater to the professional retrofitting of old vehicles, GoGoA1 has established a state of the art training center at Ahmednagar, Maharashtra which has provided vocational training to 1000+ entrepreneurs so far.

“We have also acquired land near Mumbai to construct a state of the art training center. Besides this, we have partnered with prestigious colleges, universities and technical institutes like Kohinoor Technical Institute for a vocational course and Entrepreneurship Development Program for EV retrofitting/Conversion it installation,” added Mr. Shrikant Shinde, Founder GoGoA1.com.

Need to overhaul laws relating to retrofitting
The law in India relating to retrofitting is very stringent which allows only authorized states agency to install the retrofit kits. More companies like RTO Approved GoGoA1, should be added to the retrofitting market besides the authorized players.
“Retrofitting needs a lot of policy support from the governing bodies also. Converting old vehicles will increase the number of electric vehicles on the roads without adding new vehicles. This will also increase the useful life span of existing vehicles by 5-7 years and would also not fall into the new scrappage policy.”
Innovation and New Products
GoGoA1 launched their conversion kit for Splendor in August 2021 which gives an average range of approx. 151kms under ideal conditions. The kit comes with a hub motor, regenerative controller, wrist throttle, drum brake, battery SoC, wiring harness, key switch, controller box and swing arm. The 72 V 40 Ah battery offers quick acceleration. The motor capacity offers a peak power output of 4 kW with 67 Nm of torque.
“Robust battery swapping infrastructure is needed to support the EV ecosystem, we have thus also started trials on the battery swapping centers in Navi Mumbai”
The company plans to launch conversion kits for more 2 & 3 wheeler models in March 2022 followed by 4 wheelers and commercial vehicles in the next financial year.
