The coveted Samos Muscat wine lies at the heart of METAXA’s extraordinary smoothness. Muscat wines and wine distillates are matured separately in oak barrels until they are ready to marry. A scent of Mediterranean botanicals adds the finishing touch to METAXA’s smoothness.

Craftsmanship
There is no Master Distiller or Master Blender at METAXA House. It has a METAXA Master, Constantinos Raptis, who embodies the House’s distinct savoir-faire. Since 1888, he is only the fifth METAXA Master.
The wine distillates and Muscat wines are matured separately until Constantinos Raptis determines they are ready for emulsification in Limousin wood casks.
A plethora of Mediterranean plants offer a last floral touch and freshness. METAXA Masters require both inspiration and enthusiasm.
Constantinos Raptis must merge the old with the modern, just as he must blend the elements that form METAXA. He must maintain METAXA’s legacy and style while being motivated to produce new expressions, such as METAXA 12 Stars.
