Making Space for e-Commerce Businesses Storage Service Providers are the Post Pandemic Superheroes You Didn’t Know Your e-Commerce Business Needed

Pandemic, hybrid working models and changes to space and storage of e-Commerce Business.

With the rise of the gig economy, many companies are going fully remote and leaving their offices behind. This means that employees are no longer working in a central location—they’re working from home or even travelling.

In recent news, Brian Chesky, the CEO of Airbnb announced that the company will be embracing a ‘work from anywhere’ policy that he claims will be in line with “where the world is going today.”

What does that mean for physical offices and the way we do business?

In the last twelve months, over one million square feet of office space has been vacated or put on hold by businesses due to concerns about the risk of infection. This has led to a decline in demand for office space, but also to an increase in demand for flexible working arrangements- especially in the Indian e-commerce sector.

Industry stats:

The Indian e-commerce sector is still in its infancy, with 4.7 percent market penetration in 2019.
According to Forbes, the pandemic has caused a 614% increase in warehouse occupancy.
Annual warehouse transactions in the top eight Indian cities are predicted to expand at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 19% over the next five years, reaching 76.2 million sq ft from the present 31.7 million sq ft, according to Knight Frank India statistics.
In the next five years, e-commerce is predicted to take up 98 million square feet, a 165% increase over the 2017-2021 timeframe. Third-party logistics and other businesses are expected to take up 83 million square feet and 53 million square feet of additional space, respectively.

How storage service providers can help you

Save space and money in one go: Self-storage is significantly less costly and more cost-effective than renting or purchasing retail space. If cutting expenses and maximising your hard-earned dollars is on your company agenda, look no further than self-storage.
Clean and everything in its right place: With upkeep and inventory being a big part of the service that storage services provide, it takes away the burden of care and cleaning on your part. Drop your stuff off and leave the maintenance concerns in the hands of professionals.
Safety: Most storage services provide extensive guarantees and safeguards against theft, fire, water damage etc,. Find one that you trust and hand over your safety worries to them!

Climate controlled settings to work around seasonal damages, a flexible renting plan and the space to keep your work life away from intruding upon your personal life are other important services that warehouses and storage providers give you.
