Historical, Broadway ”Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha” on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to be staged

Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha is presented in Marathi, Hindi and English languages.

Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha, Saisha Foundation to pay tribute to noted historian Babasaheb Purandare to mark his first death anniversary Shivshahir. Hon. Chief Minister Shri. Eknathji Shinde to grace the occasion.

Mumbai based, Saisha Foundation, which have been working towards nation-building since 2011, is hosting a tribute show of “Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha” on the occasion of the of Padma Vibhushan Maharashtra Bhushan Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare.

“Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha” is a grand historical broadway musical based on the life and teachings of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with 42 new songs specially penned and composed by Shri. Anil Nalawade.

The momentous show will be held at the Royal Opera House, Mumbai on 15th November 2022 at 5.30pm. The occasion will be graced by Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Eknath Shinde. HH Shri. Babajiraje Bhonsale Chhatrapati of Thanjavur will be the Guest of honour for the show.

Live and electrifying performances showcasing our culture, tradition, folk art, and craftsmanship of Shivaji Maharaj’s era are highlighted in this program. It is our sincere desire and mission that Shivshahi Era should be presented to the people and every Indian citizen should take inspiration from it and contribute towards nation building”

Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha is presented in Marathi, Hindi and English languages with the aim of making the young generation today understand our glorious history. Through the musical program Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha, stories of known and unknown warriors of the Shivaji era, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s vision, management, war skills, strategy for public welfare, and more have been highlighted through songs, dances, weaponry demonstrations and effective visuals.

Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha throws light on untouched topics like Suryarao Kakde – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s childhood friend and Panch Hajari Mansabdar who laid his life while fighting in the battle of Salher, Bahirji Naik Jadhav – Maharaj’s chief of espionage, Saibaisaheb – Wife of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and mother of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Murarbaji Deshpande – A warrior who in his early days had fought against Shivaji Maharaj but when the later told him the importance of unity and Hindavi Swarajya joined him and laid down his life in the infamous battle of Purandar, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Agra Meeting with Aurangzeb, Kanhoji Jedhe – the trusted and senior warrior, etc.

Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha has songs composed based on local folk music like Waghya Murali, Koligeet, Dhangargeet, Abhang, Gondhal. This is an attempt to revive the age-old folk music of Maharashtra.

Speaking about the show, Writer, Composer Shri Anil Nalawade shared, “We have been lucky to have our show blessed by Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare. He had narrated for the show 3 times previously, and with his insights and anecdotes on the life and teachings of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had left the audience spellbound.
The audience will get to experience Babasaheb’s powerful and inspirational narrations once again along with the songs from ‘Sangeet Shivswarajyagatha’. With the show, we intend to honour his memory and hope that future generations will carry the teachings and learnings ahead.”
The event is produced and hosted by Saisha Foundation Mumbai. The foundation aims to take the illustrious life and battles of valor of the Legendary Maratha king not just in the country but across the globe.
They have marked off this global journey by performing online for audiences in Australia and 11 other countries.
