Monarose Sheila Pereira, India’s Enid Blyton, Author, and Media Professional, talks about – Representation of gender violence in the media

Monarose Sheila Pereira, Author and Media Professional, also known as India’s Enid Blyton, gave a very informative talk on – the Representation of gender violence in the media. She discussed both the negative and positive impact of the media and its possible repercussions on society. Her talk included the impact of the entire spectrum of the media like print, radio, television, advertising, theatre, films, and social media.

Monarose Pereira’s talk was part of a series of webinars at the prestigious Centre for Women’s Studies, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANNU) Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Centre for Development Policy and Practice (CDPP), Hyderabad, The webinars were part of an ‘Awareness Campaign for Eliminating Gender-Based Violence’ held in January 2021. Director Rizwan Ahamd and his team from The Instructional Media Centre, at MANNU, ensured that the webinars went off successfully.

Dr. Shahida Murtaza, who heads the Centre for Women’s Studies at MANNU, curated the program and emphasized the need to have more such programs. She said,” We have chosen top-notch professionals, renowned in their respective fields to speak at the series of
webinars.”

Monarose Sheila Pereira, Author and Media Professional, also known as India’s Enid Blyton, discussed the negative and positive impact of the media, in her presentation – Representation of gender violence in the media.

Speaking about the webinars, Monarose Sheila Pereira says, “More such initiatives should be taken to inform and educate citizens about protecting women and giving them their rights and due respect.” Monarose Sheila Pereira’s talk was highly appreciated for paying a great deal of attention to important details; by many qualified and well known professionals from various fields.
