Kathak

Kathak developed as a type of tale-telling through dance and came from the Sanskrit term ‘Katha,’ which means story. Indian Kathak is a physically challenging dance in which the dancers perform most of their motions while standing straight-legged and wearing ankle bells or ghungroos on their feet.

It’s not just a strenuous physical workout, but it’s also a weight-bearing exercise because all dancers practice wearing heavy ghungroos on their feet. Odissi

Manuscripts suggest that Odissi is India’s oldest dance genre, having originated in Orissa, or Odisha as it is usually known. The tribhanga, or tri-bent pose, is central to this dance discipline, in which the dancer’s body is bent at the inlet, waist, and knee in a situation similar to that found in Indian sculptures.

The spacious synchronization between the many body parts in sync with the rhythm is one of the most distinct components of Odissi dance and the most challenging component of the practice. There’s more than just your feet executing the dancing because all three body sections contribute to the art.
